This work on a Richard Lipp grand went incredibly well. WNG carbon shanks with Ronsen Weickert hammers, specially drilled to our spec. Precision Touch Design with a dynamic lighter touch than standard. First time we have used this type of felt before. A beautiful arrival this week was this stunning Model M 5'7" 170cm Steinway in polished mahogany. Lovingly looked after by it's piano tuner owner for many years. Built in 1935. Old wood meets new carbon composite. We have a set of Ronsen Weickert hammers, specially drilled and shaped in America for us by Brooks Ltd. We have never used this felt before but have heard great things. ![]()
These shanks are WNG flex2 so are only 4mm diametre shanks instead of standard 5.4mm. ![]()
We needed very lightweight hammers so a 14lb felt was used.
As one piano is restrung, awaiting new dampers, another starts to get new strings. Cannot wait to hear these instruments once we have the actions back in. Both Broadwood grand pianos.
