Kawai Pianos

Kawai pianos have been produced in Japan since 1927. The company's fundamental principles have always been centred on quality, music appreciation and the quest for excellence. Kawai are the 2nd largest piano manufacturer in the world and the company is still run by the Kawai family. Mr Hirotaka Kawai is the president.

Not the result of mere assembly, every Kawai professional upright piano is crafted with meticulous skill and care. Kawai artisans begin with the finest materials and create each instrument with a harmonious blend of advanced technology and old-world craftsmanship. The result embodies the passionate quest for excellence that has characterised three generations of Kawai family leadership.

Professional pianos are high spec, high build quality and are reflected in the cost. These pianos are for the professional pianist who demand a lot from the instrument and the instrument will stand up to high use. They are also for the decerning pianist who requires refinement and longevity. These pianos will sometimes outlast their owners, their owners children, to be rebuilt and played again for more years. Most of the cost is in the preparation and attention to detail. These pianos are very labour intensive and the end result is a hand built piano and not a mass produced piano worked on by a large production line staff.
